I Follow You

Later on this afternoon
I'll tell you my plan
Morning sun's too hot to bear
let me out of my skin

Laid-out on the table where a bowl of fruit used to be
Your leg is swinging and eyes, they are staring
through the space between fingers, hanging from the arms of God
Something is shifting, the stairs creak so I close the blinds

I always thought I would know the moment you died
Connected so dear and so deep, essentially tied
As you passed I was laughing at loud at the TV
Baby oh baby how could you go without me

Because you're dead and you're gone
and it won't be too long
Before I follow you

Over and over I've seen that look on your face
I knew that I'd lose you first and have to replace
all the scratches and scars I could not memorize
I'd tell you my plan but its not worth a damn at sunrise

Because you're dead and you're gone
and it won't be too long
Before I follow you
