WE DON’T TALK
(Melody Baldwin)

How do we begin to say
All the things we're afraid to admit
Not exactly as we planned we're so complacent
You plant a seed with your attention and care
The perfect climate is all that we dare
Now you're lost in the jungle you tend
We don't want to cause pain or feel hurt
We put paint all over the dirt
Now that everything looks pretty, isn't it better?

We don't talk anymore
We don't listen to each other
We politely answer the voice calling from the next room
We don't talk

I could stand up and walk away from this
Am I bold enough to take on that risk
What if this is as good as it gets
We don't want to cause pain or feel hurt
We put paint all over the dirt
Now that everything looks pretty, isn't it better?

We don't talk anymore
We don't listen to each other
We politely answer the voice calling from the next room
We don't talk
